I don't want this community to die... I want to keep it updated hopefully. All Sakkan fans are precious.
SPIRAL SPIDERS GOT BACK TOGETHER! As a 5 member band for now, but right now their replacement drummer is "Takoyaki Boy." He's performed with them 5 times so far.
SPIRAL SPIDERS links:
Twitter Myspace (same as before, but updated) Website Youtube (new)
You can find live photos from their 3 night one-man live series ("one-man" means it's only them performing) here:
flickr photos
I believe that Kingfisher Jr. is over. It hasn't officially been said, but now that Yosuke is busy with SPASPA again I can't see him and TOMI YO continuing it. RADIO FLOWER is also over (it ended in January), but Yosuke is apparently coming back on ustream in June. Sora Izumikawa of SPIRAL SPIDERS is restarting her old radio show Soradio on ustream at 10 pm Thursday (Japan time) here. Be sure to tune in! Sora also has an official twitter and a twitter for her radio program.
The concerts that SPIRAL SPIDERS have been doing have been a secret live in February, the 3 night only one-man series of lives in March (in Tokyo and Osaka), and just this past weekend at an Antinos 10 year anniversary concert with Kinya Kotani.
Lastly,
ENJOY A BRAND NEW PV FROM SPIRAL SPIDERS! (not for sale on iTunes or anything yet)

| SUMMER 2009 |
[03 Apr 2009|01:14am] |
Yosuke has been posting in his blog very often lately, to say that he's starting up again with music and art and lots of activity this summer.
He just posted this video on his new youtube account! (I think he was using mitsubaco's before)
Also, i'm not sure if you can still do it, but he's replying to emails at sakanoue@jacobetty.com You can ask questions like what he's been up to, what's his favourite colour, etc. Go crazy.

| Shimokita Donburi promotional songs |
[18 Nov 2008|01:28am] |
I found this site recently where you can hear the songs that SPIRAL SPIDERS recorded before they broke up - they were promoted along with the opening of the Shimokita Donburi restaurant.
Hakaioh has been featured on Yosuke's blog through imeem and their myspace, but you can hear the FULL VERSION on this website. I highly recommend it!!
Click the other two links in blue on the site and you can hear "Mr.Frypan man" and "Shimokita Dondondondonburi."
http://five-group.co.jp/kitadon_mp3.php?music=1
As you can see, the lyrics are also provided for all the songs, including full lyrics for Hakaioh.
Please enjoy these, everyone! I hope you're all keeping up-to-date with Kingfisher Jr.'s weekly broadcasts.

Next KFJ broadcast is on Tuesday, if you didn't catch this past friday's announcement.
And... This is from Sora's blog, "Soranikki" at her website sorasora.com. I thought you might be interested in the bolded parts :]. I must tell you though that I'm still very much a beginner at Japanese!
FYI: Sora, a dog owner, volunteers at dog shelters. She's also involved in some "wanko" merchandise ("wanko" is like a cute name for a puppy or dog). The only brand I'm familiar with is Daisuke Asakura's, which is ironic as he produced Yosuke.
Anyways,

kingfisher jr. has an online broadcast from 20:00 ~ 21:00 JAPAN TIME every Friday, and you can see it on their myspace, so be sure to tune in! The very first broadcast is July 11th (Japan time. May be earlier in your location).
There is also a CHAT ROOM that you need an account to log in to with Ustream.
If you've never participated in one of these before, with an account, you can type a message to the musicians and they'll read it instantly and you can see their reactions/responses right away on-screen.

| SPIRAL SPIDERS Split |
[20 Jan 2008|10:03pm] |
I have no idea if there's really a point to this; heck, a few members here do speak very good Japanese and probably figured this out before kakurenbo_noizu and I did.
On January 5th there was a live at Shimokitazawa Donburi, and this was SPIRAL SPIDERS' last live.
A lot of people don't seem to know the band is broken up now, so I figured this community - it's bigger than supa_supa - deserved a post.
Sora Izumikawa is currently still performing solo lives. Page and Maeny are - presumably - still working with Nico*Rock. No one really knows what's happening with Taka, 4401 and Yosk - but Yosk is kind of upset over everything. I imagine he'll pick up music in SOME form relatively soon; apart from that, he still has his triathlon to run, so I'm sure he'll be keeping busy. Despite all the emo, it seems like the split was pretty amiable; Sora Izumikawa posted on her blog 'let's do this again sometime in the future!' so who knows how it'll play out?
2004-2008! Never forget, you guys.

[30 Dec 2007|01:06am] |
Yuuki Maeda, SPIRAL SPIDERS' drummer, Yosuke Sakanoue's drummer since 2000, has retired from the band. From January there will be a hiatus in band activities.
Maeny has not apparently retired from Nico*Rock or other support activities.

| You'd think I was a mod or something |
[23 Dec 2007|02:15pm] |
Hey guys! It's not been too active around here of late, amirite? I admit, I figured due to ACen this fandom was going to skyrocket, but I guess that was a little optimistic...
If you remember, not too long back someone proposed the idea of a SPASPA comm. I thought - and still do think - this probably isn't the best idea, as the fandom is so tiny that there's not much action even here!
However, what few people know is that SPIRAL SPIDERS are the 'core' of a group of acts that otherwise would go unnoticed, acts that I and a few other folks love very much. For instance NICO*ROCK is a girl singer backed by Maeny and Page; DAUGHTER consists of Sora and her little sister; Taka6 used to play bass for Mai Fukuda. Because news about these groups doesn't relate directly to Yosuke Sakanoue, I don't feel they're relevant for this comm; but if anyone wants to keep up-to-date on what the rest of SPASPA (as well as SPASPA as a unit) are doing:

Even if you don't join, please come out of the woodwork to tell me how dumb I am! It's been so lonely round here lately. ♥

Happy Birthday Takashi!
Back in October, I requested a translation of ブライス through a Japanese music translation project website called "Mognet." I've come to realize Buraisu is "Blythe" (as in the dolls). I translated a very in-depth description of CALL, including Buraisu, which said the song is as if it's in the point-of-view of a Blythe doll, with its huge eyes, and looking at everything wrong with people. 人は悲しい生物だ! I didn't post about it before, but this summer I had the opportunity to hear Buraisu/Blythe live, and it is absolutely maaaniic.
I just got the translation today. If you have the original kanji (in CALL's booklet or whatever), feel free to point out any errors :0. My Japanese skill is still too limited to make any sense of Yosuke, so that's why I'm too wary of doing this myself. I'd like to think he's weird anyway, though.

*gently nudges community*
Today Shunsuke 'Page' Ito, SPASPA's guitarist, is 27. It has been approximately 11 years since he and Yosuke Sakanoue first started playing guitars at each other and yelling and making a lot of noise.
 Happy birthday Page :)

| Yes, I'm new. |
[14 Jun 2007|02:04pm] |
Hi!
So, I'm new here - I just found this community. Very nice! Yeah, I actually didn't think that I'd like Spiral Spiders, until the day I saw them in concert - I love them! They've become one of my favorites. I really wish they had more out - Ah well, I'm rooting for them all the way!
Also, is there a community just for the whole band? I wanted to make a community for the band, but I don't want to if there already is one or if you guys disapprove.
Thankies!

09/06/2007 - Maeny (SPASPA drummer)'s birthday! Today he is 31. He celebrated by playing a live with some of his other bands (non-SPASPA). Taka6 and Page were there too. Apparently there was lots of cake. Happy birthday Maeny!

A new single, 「産声」/Ubugoe('Birth Cry'), will be released on May 9th. It will be the band's first physical, real MAXI-single! I can only imagine this is cause they want to flog the hell out of it at Anime Central. The PV has already been recorded and involves the band dressing up as 80s musicians such as Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder. (o_o;. )

If any of you live anywhere near Chicago - for one I HATE YOU SO MUCH RIGHT NOW! :B.
SPIRAL SPIDERS are guests at this year's AnimeCentral. http://www.acen.org/guests.html
This is Yosuke's first Western live in so long! : O Also, for those who haven't read YOSK VOICE in a while, he's also proposed the idea of touring 'the whole world' in 2007. So maybe there's hope for non-American folks yet, eh?

| FUTURE lyrics~ |
[08 Jan 2007|04:22pm] |
Hello community~ ^^
Again I've spent some time with my eyebrows glued together, pondering on different meanings and phrasings and whatnot, and thus far I've been able to produce a (shaky?) translation of the lyrics of the two a-tracks of 1981~FUTURE~. The last track on the single - like the other 1981-singles - doesn't have lyrics printed for them, so every translation would only be speculative.
Lyrics sheet provided kindly by maskalade ☆
( Alan e no tegamiCollapse )
Overall, this song was a bitch to translate is very YOSK-ish, and ponders on the general situation of the world and the person's place in it. (Wow for summaries. XD)
( Boku no namae wa...Collapse )
Every time I look at these lyrics, I feel like there's something missing. o_o I mean, they're so... short! And... fairly simple! What! But the song itself is nice. ^^ I think it is in the same theme with Letter to Alan. :o
Corrections, suggestions and generally all comments are welcome. :3
